Imagine, for just 2 seconds, that your life hangs in the balance and the only people that can save you from certain death, are complete strangers.

I do not have to imagine it, I live it - everyday. Instead of being a victim of a rare blood disorder or the survivor of a near death experience, I choose to be a LIVING TESTIMONY of the need for blood donors. As an advocate and spokesperson working with the nation's two largest blood collection organizations, I hope to connect donors to the lives they save through education, encouragement and open communication. Together, we can save lives, one pint at a time.

Every 2 seconds, someone requires a blood transfusion to live.

That's why "It's Hip 2 Give!"

23 Years Later

Can you believe it - it's been 23 years since I left the hallowed halls of St. Joseph's School in Herndon, VA.

This past weekend, I had the opportunity to visit with alumni from my years at the school, take a tour, and giggle about stories from yesteryear - what an amazing time! It was fun to see old faces, which, to my amazement were very recognizeable.

Between 2nd-8th grades, I spent every minute (it seems) with the same 30 students - parties, sports, field trips, and just every day life was shared. While it seems that many remember me breaking a window in the 6th grade with a chair, I'll just claim it as a memory lapse!

It was fun to visit my childhood "stomping grounds" - while it's changed greatly, it still holds a significant amount of memories that shaped me into the person I have become. My 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Cargill is now the Principal. My fellow student and I wondered if she was also so petite or perhaps we had just finally gotten much taller!

In the end, it was a blast from the past to say the least and I can't wait to see everyone again!

(In the pictures: Fr. Jim - he was an associate priest when I attended school at St. Joe's now he is the lead priest. The second photo are the attendees from the graduating class of 1986 - I was so glad to see that almost half of our class attended! I think we all look fabulous!)
